Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute small seconds green

The iconic Reverso is ninety years old, but still keeps pace with contemporary fashion and colors

The iconic Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso is undoubtedly the most iconic watch of the brand, and even one of the iconic watches in the entire watch history. It may read like a bold statement, but realize that Reverso has been around for no less than 90 years. Out of the necessity of protecting fragile crystals from hard polo, the possibility of flipping the case is a clever solution. Today, the Le Sentier-based watch brand introduced a new color for the Reverso series, namely green. Although, on second thought, it’s not brand new. The 26 pieces of the London boutique are now changing owners at 4 to 5 times the retail price…

The Reverso double-sided flip watch was born in 1931, and its iconic shape and reversibility have been attracting attention. Although primarily in the “classic” category, Reverso comes in various sizes and proportions. More importantly, there are many complex functions, although it was not until 1991 that Reverso started adding complex functions in 60 years. In recent years, Jaeger-LeCoultre has added a clearer subdivision to the series, which is now divided into three categories: Reverso One, Reverso Classic and Reverso Tribute.

In order to explain a little bit about the current series and its comparison with the previous series, it is important to know that Reverso Tribute has the largest case size, measuring 45.6 from lug to lug, and 2.4 from left to right. Including the crown. This is what used to be called “Grande Reverso Tribute to 1931”, and now a small second hand has been added at 6 o’clock. The Grande Reverso Tribute to 1931 initially only offered a black dial, while the Paris boutique offers a red dial version (unlimited), and the London boutique has a green dial version limited to 26 pieces. Later, a white dial version with a small second hand was added, and the series was gradually renamed “Reverso Tribute”, only offering a “monoface” small second hand or a dual-dial model with an off-center small second dial and a one-second dial. face’ does not have a small second hand, but has an additional 24-hour hand.

To commemorate the 90th anniversary of this iconic watch-I know that the word “iconic” may be used too often, but in this case, I think it makes perfect sense-Jaeger-LeCoultre launched several models The new Reverso model, what we are going to introduce today is the green dial version of Reverso Tribute. Exactly the same as other single-sided Reverso Tribute models, it has faceted hour markers and a small seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and of course a closed bottom cover. Around (or “square”?) the perimeter of the dial is a track “minutes” in order to read the time more accurately.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre logo is applied above the printed brand name. The hands that match the Reverso Tribute series are the so-called Toffee hands. According to the fine tradition of JLC, they are faceted and polished like applied time scales. According to the press release, the green dial and strap “reminiscent of the dark green of the surrounding pine forest”, manufactured in Le Sentier. To me, this is a lovely green! The sun finish applied before the green paint adds a lot of depth and richness to the color.

The movement in the iconic reversible case remains unchanged, namely the 822/2 movement inside the JLC. The small elliptical hand-wound movement has a height (or thickness) of only 2.94 mm. This movement is a variant of the 822 movement used in the aforementioned 1931 Grande Reverso Tribute movement, which is derived from the 824 movement, which is the first movement of JLC, through the sapphire panel in the case back Display, specially designed for the 60th anniversary. 1991. 108 individual components, 19 of which are gems, indicating hours, minutes and seconds, and a steady ticking sound at 3Hz (21,600Hz). The height of the case is 8.5 mm, 45.6 mm from lug to lug, and 27.4 mm from left to right. As a side note, it is worth mentioning that the “old” Tribute from 1931 was only 7.5 mm tall.

The Reverso Tribute watch comes with a beautiful green smooth calfskin strap, made by the famous Casa Fagliano, a company known in the polo world for its handmade leather polo boots.
