F.P. Journe Chronometrea Resonance
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Chronomètreà Résonance, replica F.P. Journe is introducing a new model. The new 2020 Chronomètreà Résonance is significantly different from the previous generation product that was discontinued last year. Crucially, it has a new rose gold movement (1520), which uses a single (rather than the previous double-spring) barrel to power the watch. The manufacture of resonance watches is extremely challenging. They require two balances to sound synchronously and harmoniously (due to resonance) without any mechanical transmission. This keeps the two balances at a much more stable ratio.
The highly complex 2020 model insists on using traditional materials. It is housed in a case made of platinum or 18-carat 6N rose gold, and comes in two sizes of 40 mm or 42 mm. The case itself has also been redesigned. The crown is now located at 2 o’clock and can be wound and set the time. At the same time, the second crown is at 4 o’clock and the two small seconds are reset at the same time. At the same time, the dial is made of 18-carat white or 6N gold.
The silver hour dial that turns white in two hours is decorated with guillochéclous de Paris. The subdial at 9 o’clock indicates the local time zone in the 24-hour format, while the subdial at 3 o’clock indicates the local time. The blue steel hands add color to the dial. In addition, there are two small seconds under each dial, and the power reserve of the watch is displayed at 12 o’clock. Finally, the differential system of the movement is partially exposed in the center of the dial.
As before, the new Chronomètreà Résonance still has the recognized double balance design. The highly complex manual winding movement consists of 378 parts and 62 jewels. It has a power reserve of 48 hours and a frequency of 3 Hz. The rose gold movement 1520 has only one large barrel spring, which powers the two movements. The differential of the first wheel is used to transfer the energy of the balance spring to the two auxiliary gear trains. The two independent gear trains are equipped with the manufacturer’s one-second regaltoir d’égalité mechanism, which provides a constant force for each escapement. This can be seen through the sapphire crystal back cover.
It is worth noting that the “effective running time” of this movement is approximately 28 hours, because after this period of time, the mainspring can no longer be returned to the d’égalité spring. Therefore, the watch should be wound every day to ensure optimal performance.
Chronomètreà Résonance will be available in boutiques from mid-2020. Although these watches are not limited editions, their production is currently restricted. This fake luxury watches uses a black alligator leather strap (available in two styles) or an 18-carat 6N gold bracelet. The waterproof depth is up to 30 m.
