Following the release of the special edition of the Large Pilot’s Watch 43 “Racing Green” (Ref. IW329306) two days ago, IWC presents the new Portugieser Automatic 40 (Ref. IW358310) and Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42 in the same color scheme (Model: IW344207).
The Portugieser Automatic 40 and Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42 were launched in 2020. Compared with their larger predecessors, they are more compact and more affordable. Combining a stainless steel case, a dark green satin-brushed sunburst dial, and rhodium-plated hands and hour-markers, the new watch features a rich and deep color palette that interacts with natural light to create subtly reflective and shifting effects. At the same time, the new watch also comes with an alligator leather strap with tonal stitching.
The first is the Portugieser Automatic 40, equipped with an automatic movement with a small three-hand function. With a diameter of 40.4 mm and a thickness of 12.3 mm, this watch is smaller in size than the 42 mm seven-day power reserve model. However, the iconic elements of the Portuguese collection, including appliquéd Arabic numerals, leaf-shaped hands and orbital minute circles, have been retained.
The Portugieser Automatic 40 is powered by the brand’s in-house calibre 82200, assembled from 192 parts, including 31 jewels, at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), equipped with a calibre with wear-free ceramic components. Pellaton automatic winding system, able to provide 60 hours of power reserve.
Then there’s the Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42, with a simplified movement with date, day of the week, month, leap year and moon phase display. This watch is 42.4 mm in diameter and 13.8 mm in thickness, compared with 44 mm in diameter for the previous perpetual calendar with a seven-day power reserve. This watch also continues all the iconic elements of the Portuguese series, with the exception of the white markers, red numerals (31) and rhodium-plated finishes, the entire dial has a vivid green color.
The Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42 is powered by the in-house calibre 82650, assembled from 326 parts, including 46 jewels, at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), with a Buller with wear-free ceramic components Dayton automatic winding system, can provide 60 hours of power reserve. In fact, the 82650 movement is based on the 82200 movement, loaded with a perpetual calendar module. Cheap watches for Men
