Zenith and SJX watches are based on the Chronomaster Revival “Poker Chip” and El Primero G383, an elegant reinterpretation of one of the brand’s most coveted vintage watches. G383 is affectionately nicknamed “Poker Chips” by collectors and is considered one of the most fascinating models in the Zenith archive. Launched in 1969, G383 is one of the rarest and most sought-after variants of the first variants of El Primero.
This model originated in the psychedelic era of the late 1960s and is reminiscent of the A386 and its tri-color dial. The G383 is characterized by an amazing full-sector layout, making it one of the most luxurious timepieces in a decade. The dial was developed in collaboration with one of Zenith’s trusted dial suppliers at the time, and its bold color alternation is reminiscent of poker chips, so it immediately stood out, which earned it the nickname. Today, the unique style of G383 has given birth to this new collaboration: the project was initiated by SJX Watches founder Su Jiaxian in May 2020. The company headquartered in Singapore contacted Zenith’s product development and heritage director Romain Marietta and proposed a unique The modern style revives G383.
The purpose of the series is to reproduce the flagship elements of the G383 model, while injecting them with elegance and modern accents. This is how poker chips were born, and its design relied on shades of gray and a lot of Super-LumiNova to reproduce G383 in day and darkness.
“For a long time, I have always admired El Primero‘s longevity and Zenith’s rich heritage,” SJX said. “I want to do something that integrates sports and its history; but what I want is not a remake, but something that seems to be contradictory: a design that can be immediately recognized as G383, and at the same time new and different. “
The Poker Chip dial is dark gray, fan-shaped printed in matte black, and enhanced with Super-LumiNova luminous material. This luminous material can still be found on the time scales, chronograph scales, and various radial patterns around each counter. A tribute to Zenith’s iconic watch, it uses the same 38 mm case as the El Primero A386, but is made of micro-blasted titanium, giving it a fine-grained dark gray finish that echoes the color of the dial. The titanium case is equipped with an El Primero movement, which is basically the same as the historical movement in 1969, which can also be seen through the sapphire crystal case back. buy replicas watch
